RSS (Really Simple Syndication, in German as "really simple spread") is an electronic news format that allows the user to remain on web content, messages or changes to it if necessary in summary form in the loop. For this they are subscribed as so-called RSS feeds. RSS is a service that includes a news ticker similar to the headlines with a short teaser text and a link to the original page. The subscriber to the RSS feed can directly read and follow the links provided there, the entire message. The address of an RSS feed of a "normal" web page looks very similar (eg Wikipedia - New Products). To read an RSS feed are conventional web browser or special programs that are adapted to the similarity to the news ticker. The latter is called (interchangeably) RSS aggregators, RSS reader or feed reader.
