Now we will soon be a month in Vieste and the time flies by. Great, we have seen quite a lot, Some things were rather tedious. But we enjoy our life on the Whisper and look forward to us to sail in a few days.
Directions
We have prepared ourselves for the departure from the wintry Switzerland on a warm spring in the south. That should not be so. On the way we wanted to Vieste if a few stops around the country of Italy to learn something. However, since it was raining all the time and the temperatures were fresh and cool, we took the nearest way to the highway to the east coast and then directly to our ship. South of Parma, we stayed in a pretty little town in Monteccio and were lucky the worthwhile castle, which was actually closed yet to visit.
The next stop was Numan Tues Marcelli south of Ancona. There we found a great dive shop and buy our tanks can be hoped. The owner was nice but not aluminum bottles for us, but gave us a good tip from a website. Meanwhile, we have ordered there at a good price 3 bottles, they were delivered and are already now permanently installed in our locker. (The postage cost only 12 € for all three bottles. Another offer we had € 80 postage per bottle!)
Arrival
We were looking forward to the Whisper, and were anxious to see if the winter everything went well. The arrival was a bit disappointing, but the ship was OK, but Catherine the marina (or bridge) boss told us that we have lived in the autumn just six weeks on the ship and it is not agreed upon was that we come again for four weeks. It is true we have told her that we were over the winter in Switzerland, but said clearly that we do not know how long we were in the fall and spring on the ship. Anyway, you put us off the power and blackmailing us so that we have to pay 150 € for electricity and water for the month of April. Shower and toilet, we can no longer use. The story goes on and is too tedious to enumerate all, they lied to us and our neighbors, the sailmaker, we had ordered was allowed first the car park no electricity used, and from the agreed demurrage of 20 € per day if the weather is bad and we the phasing out by 2 - to postpone 3 days, you wanted to know anything more. She wants to be rid of us, we can not stay a day longer, the marina is on 1 May Full!
In any case, we recommend all sailors Vieste to run, it's a pretty wonderful, rewarding place, but brought on 2 Web on. This is one of a small bar - restaurant, the price is probably better that it has a shower / WC and the people are nice and helpful. Let yourself be persuaded not to the first bridge. (Enough, the water depth, although it sounds from the first bar otherwise). Today we enjoy a solid wood floating web with drinking water, cleaning water, electricity, shower and toilet, the winter price of 30 €.
Completed Work
The second roller unit is mounted on the new Stag, adjusts the sails and we look forward to trying out the Genoa II.
A rain cover, we can make the sail maker.
In Bugbackskiste we have added a sheet, so that we can safely store the gas cylinders.
In the Campingasschab we have a gas grill great for our junction box mounted.
New cases are spliced and fed and the water pump from the engine revised. We have extended the lead to the cockpit pod and drilled two new crossings. In the cockpit, the wood sanded and oiled, now looks like our old lady after a makeover from much younger.
The whole ship is repacked, now we need to store only the ship and all the tools inside and outside cleaned thoroughly. Then stops and nothing more, and we hope to sail north to the south winds can be. We will only kick in Trani, then Bari, Monopoli and Brindisi, then it goes around the heel of Italy around Sicily direction. On 21 May will come back to visit the brothers Hans Peter with two friends. We look forward to.
Acquaintances
We have been here in Vieste whole lot of people love to know. The butcher, the hairdresser, the fishmongers, many market vendors, the vendors of the bakery, the pasta business (there is the best pasta as desired spaghetti, thick or thin noodles directly behind the fresh dough through the machine) the buyer of our cars, and many more, to know us and greet us warmly when we ever meet them somewhere. A retired Swiss couple who has been living for 16 years, Vieste has seen our car and after a brief chat us immediately invited to dinner. After a pleasant evening we were allowed to make even the laundry for washing. Here in Vieste, for that is not so simple, you must bring the clothes into a Lavanderia, which is pretty expensive.
All day we have new encounters with nice people and that makes Vieste so lovable.
Buy a Car
We decided to go with our 15-year-old Renault Espace for the last time in the south and to sell it there. We thought that we have this practical and affordable car quickly because of age going on. After some investigations in Switzerland (CV of the car from the Renault garage, stamp of the Road Traffic Agency and the Italian Consulate in Zurich) a sale in Italy, nothing stood in the way. No way, however, consider this would have meant, we know the Italian bureaucracy and have been for days on the way from one office to another, and to provide information to the other contradicts itself. Incidentally, it was not easy to find a buyer, the car should be diesel and not so much because that increases the cost of taxes in Italy very much. But we have found a very loving family who is determined to our Espace. Meanwhile, we were now all four have in common in Foggia (1 ½ hours one way), have cleared the car and now the sale is completed.
