On Tuesday we will sail around the Cape Bon to Sidi Bou Said. We have northwesterly winds 4-5 Bf Sidi Bou Said, the most expensive marina in Tunisia (30 €), a reservation is necessary otherwise it may be that you have to wait long for a place.
We chose this target because it quickly from here and just get into the capital, Tunis, and also the tourist town of Sidi Bou Said artist is worth a visit.
In Sidi Bou Said, we stroll through the picturesque old towns, which is located on the hill and the white houses, the turquoise-blue windows, doors and grilles dressed really smug. We visit a museum, which is the traditional way of life from past to the present is. A whole yard with all the rooms is decorated really nice and you feel as an extra in a fairy tale from 1000 Nights.
The next day we travel by train to Tunis. We enjoy the day with a stroll in Old Town. Once we get off the tourist souks we get into small alleys with their many shops and stalls where we stock up on spices. We get a glimpse of the Tunisian daily life. The ambience is oriental and simple, the people are all very friendly and helpful and not pushy, just as one often hears.
Before we go to bed we watch on the pier, police calls go up and down, and suddenly in the company of a couple in bathing suits (... and the Arab in a country?). We go to sleep and be awakened soon thereafter by steps on our boat. Nanu is there a yacht?
Since we are in the pack, all run over the ship to come ashore. The customs and the police, all with shoes, dirty and with black soles. Our deck looks!
Anyway, we stand up and really has a sailing yacht alongside turned on us. From them we learned first hand just then the following story:
The French yacht sailed from Sardinia to Monastier.Removed at the height of about Kelibia 6SM (10km) from the coast they hear cries for help. They discover two kayakers who exhausted and helpless, drifting in high seas and strong winds!Fortunately, the two are saved onto sailboat. The Coast Guard was advised by radio, then that was the reason the police presence on the pier. The boat brought them to happiness healthy after Kelibia.
The woman, a Tunisian woman and the man from Kelibia her boyfriend, a South African went kayaking in the afternoon together.Unfortunately, it had (to 30 knots) strong offshore wind blew, the two and the open sea.Actually, it is grossly negligent in such wind conditions at sea kayak ride!
The French skipper told us that the two giant were lucky because the yacht was under sail and not under power. With the engine noise, nobody would have heard both, let alone seen. The two had many guardian angels and the whole crew is justifiably very proud of you could save the lives of the two.Or ... maybe they both wanted to leave the country illegally?
After a great crossing with wind speeds of 3-6 applicants we place in Kelibia in Tunisia. The Einklarieren is here, although many of us have been warned by Tunisia, relatively straightforward. "Che Guevara" We know a place at the old pier. Actually, we are glad to be here alone, because, on the other hand, the yachts are in Viererpäcklein. First, the police come and take their passports with the office, then the duty is on the ship and has a long form ready. Man must state how much alcohol and cigarettes have been on board, he sees our small stock (which is fine Italian wines, we have tucked deep down) makes all the details on the form in lines, I should say in weapons "no" or write? And then we had to all electronic equipment from the ship and write down all the other ship is not connected to the property. The list was short, no cabinet has been opened, he asks us then because of an unfinished whiskey as a gift ... and they're gone. We are half an hour later the passports and the Transito brought onto the ship. The Harbour Master also appears briefly, and everything is settled.
On Saturday we make our first trip with our bikes into town, 3 km away. Yes we really are in Africa. We will be welcomed, especially with new smells and sounds. We am taking a shopping trip to our refrigerator to fill again, and then again in the evening to drive to the center. The stores are open 24 hours!
When we come to the ship meets us almost a stroke. They've just parked our Whisper! and between the pier and we put a big fishing boat. We packed only once the rage. What happened there? The fishing boat had engine trouble and had to invest there, to be later raised with the travel lift from the water. We assess our Whisper and can find no damage, such as who made what we do not know. Another sailor told us, however, he would have watched, and all were handled very carefully. Yes, once again lucky. We now move into the space of three parcels on the boat dock. Since strong winds is announced tomorrow morning, we have not gone our neighbors remain so.
We have to stay until Monday anyway, because when changing money at the ATM card simply was our first time collected directly. The bank has closed Saturday and Sunday so we have to stop by on Monday then.
With the outing tonight will not matter, because the wind is blowing at the moment here in the harbor at up to 30 knots, as we prefer to stay on board and see that keeping the lines. Something good has it, I had finally time to readjust the homepage. Tomorrow I hopefully can then upload to the Internet point to the text and images. (1 hour of internet costs 1 dinar, about 1 CHF).
With our bikes, we go on exploring. From the lovely Ford Kelibia you have a great view. We discovered near a beautiful sandy beach and make our way to swim. The famous, and miles of beautiful sandy beaches are supposedly the gold from Tunisia, since tourism is the main source of income is Tunisia. To our surprise, it has practically no tourists, the Tunisians enjoy the beach on Sunday.
We'll probably continue to sail on Tuesday to Sidi Bou Said and then on to Bizerte. From there it's a night ride about 120 sm to Cagliari. At 12:07:09 we will visit there, Livia and Adrian. We are looking forward immensely to the reunion.
Linosa is the average of Pelagie Islands Lampedusa and Pantelleria Linosa, three volcanic islands between Sicily and Tunisia. All three belong to Italy. Are safe anchorage or mooring is not to Linosa. But the weather is good and we anchor on the west side near the little harbor. The scenery is gorgeous.
Glad we had stayed on this little island a bit, but the report says stronger winds again, and we have to be in a protected location. The next day we continue to Pantelleria. During the crossing, we see many turtles that are on the way to Lampedusa to bury their eggs in the sand beach. The beach is then available at this time protected and may not be entered. A dolphin school accompanied us again for a while and we enjoy as a quiet ride.
In the port of Scauri we are warmly greeted by Captain defiance. Defiance is a German sea captain, who now spends his retirement in Scauri on his ship. He immediately invites us to take a beer and told many a sailor's yarn. We invite him to happy to ship to our Nachtesen. Trutz us worried for a cheap car and takes us one day to the island.
We are excited about nature, plants, rocks and bizarre stones, the volcanic peak of the cave sauna. Yes you read correctly, in a cave comes out hot steam and you can really make it a sauna. We were lucky the first time we sat alone in the cave and then more and more people came, many locals go there every week sauna.
Another attraction of the island is practically on our feet. Right next to the harbor where we lie, it has a rock bath with a hot spring. Since there is neither harbor shower or anything and are not to swim from the weather invites us to enjoy and a healthy, hot bath. Time goes by very quickly, the report predicts ideal winds for Friday and we leave Pantelleria after nine beautiful, varied days and sail towards Africa.
After we reach 56sm Malta in the early evening. Einklarieren can be at the Msida Marina (approx. 18 €), but there is no place for the time being. There is another dock for the Port Authority Einklarieren not. After a while we get in the farthest corners of the port assigned to a place, but once we have created and we will set up the motor yacht, which belongs to the space and we have to los.Die Marina Manoel Iceland logs via radio and offers us a place . Actually, we did not want to go there because we know that this marina is expensive, but now it's getting late and we put in the marina Manoel Iceland (32 € water, electricity separately) to.
We spend a cozy evening with a visit to an English pups with great live music.
The weather is good, we want to anchor to Comino into a beautiful anchorage. Unfortunately, this weekend is full, but on Sunday evening around the calm one. On Monday, it goes to Gozo to clear outward, we again anchored in a bay of Comino and go on Tuesday morning at 4.20 clock anchor and drive, drive, unfortunately it has no wind, 74 nm to Linosa.
The package has arrived and we want to continue. After nine days varied in Siracusa we lift anchor and sail on 9:06:09 with light winds after Marzamemi. In a small marina (30 €) we land and explore the pretty little village with our bicycles. In the past there were some Marzamemi tuna factories. The old factory buildings have been converted into rustic sales of local products from local tuna, swordfish, tomatoes and herbs. Everything is displayed beautifully and we can test different products. Ooh, yummy! We can not stand back and buy a small piece geräuchten Spada (swordfish). Even otherwise the village with old stone houses and the quaint village square has been renovated and just plain, which produces a beautiful ambience. It continues south to Porto Palo where we anchor for a short night in the harbor. Clock in the morning at 3:40 we go to adopt anchor us from Italy and go to Malta.
On Sundays we make clear the ship and sail with breezes on to Syracuse. Brigitte and Ueli it is the first sailing experience and enjoy both the 30 nautical miles sailing distance in good weather.
We put in the marina and all look forward to a warm shower. This is nothing but the showers are being built. Nevertheless, the marina will cost 40.00 €, from June 55 €. Is showered on the ship.
The next day we go into the large bay at anchor, and our friends enjoy the first night at anchor. A little schauckelige night, but they like it.
