For our Atlantic crossing of 2100 nm, ie about 4000 km must we stock up well. We expect a ride of 3 - 4 weeks.

We move us to Kachiouane, this time in the past the village of Bolong. While walking through the village we go visit our friends.
In the evening we will enjoy a gourmet dinner in the restaurant Flamboyant. There is a very tender prawns as a starter. After a barracuda is served with grilled red onion sauce and rice Casamance. For dessert, we are spoiled with caramelised grated coconut. This restaurant on the beach of Kachiouane is really recommended, with its fine local cuisine.
On Thursday, it means unfortunately say goodbye. Babacar invites us to dinner. Previously, we visit all our friends to say goodbye to. We are richly blessed with brooms, coconut and tomatoes.
Then we sit for the last time Babacars garden, drink tea, chat and enjoy a delicious meal. The brother makes an extra dessert or with fried bananas and bread sauce à la Fanta!
Time passes, Babacar accompanied us back to our dinghy and a heavy heart we say goodbye. He pushes another, Hans Peter suicide note in her hand with the request, we will open it only on the ship.
We are touched and sad to leave my friends and hope someday to come back.

Uhh, it's still cold and dark. Clock at 6:30 we get up and make our way to Ziguinchor.
Everything goes well and we welcome Peter at 9:00 clock in the small airport of Ziguinchor. The Air Senegal lands here every day and takes about 19 passengers with a small plane in the Casamance.
After a shopping spree on the market and a delicious lunch, we go on with the bush taxi on the way back.
Peter is amazed: "Not much has changed in the 25 years that's really still pure Africa!"
We spend a day in front of Elikine anchors and stroll through the village. Of course there is a lot to tell and tell.

It is like coming home. Many of our friends, we are welcomed into Diogue.
We spend time visiting the village, washing clothes, bring boat up to scratch, and do many small jobs (which are long overdue).
Also here is the farewell not hard, we come back. This will be our last anchorage before crossing.
Filipe and Laura with Ilu come to visit. The three in a small yacht sailing to Salvador. They enjoy the last evening on board with us. Filipe comes from Salvador, and we look forward, because they found again.

Three weeks are spent in the original, traditional Niomoun. Superb! You feel back 100 years and thinks he walks through an open-air museum. Four small villages are the community Niomoun. Almost all the houses are built of mud and covered with a thatched roof. Some are constructed of palm fan and a few brick.
The villagers here are animists (see de.wikipedia.org / wiki / Animism ) and also some Christians, and live by the old traditions. They believe in their fetishes and live in the rhythm of their religion and culture.
The community is very strong. Each other will be built for each other and fished mainly celebrated together. People are open and friendly and everywhere with you: "Kassumai" - "Bonjour ça va?" "Bien venu welcomes Soyez".
We thank our good friends Peter and Rosy. They have visited the Casamance region 25 years ago with their sailing ship "Swiss Familiy" and so many positive reports about it, so we wanted to experience this trip area itself. Peter has sent us a photo of that time and now we are here in Niomoun in search of his former friend Adrien. (Your constant companion, the boy was left of that with the green T-shirt)
It does not take long and we found it. Great is the joy and incredible how well Adrien at the "Swiss Familiy" recalls. At home in the cold Switzerland holds Peter's decision to visit us in the Casamance. Great is his curiosity, what has changed in 25 years everything. His vacation experiences will be read in a subsequent report here. Read full post »
